Photography Contest Reception

Community Supports Photography Contest at     New Island Hospital

New Island Hospital held a reception for its 5^th Annual Photography Contest on January 7, 2009 for all who participanted  in this year's photo contest and their friends and family.

The purpose of this contest is to provide the finest photographs for permanent exhibition throughout the hospital. These beautiful photographs are enjoyed by patients, staff, volunteers and physicians. They create joy, reduce stress and give a calm beauty for all to see them.

Amateur photographers from Nassau and Suffolk County entered photographs in the following categories; adult portraits, sports, children, landscape/seascape, animals/pets, and abstract/still life. Monetary awards and certificates were presented to each category for 1^st, 2^nd, & 3^rd place winners and for "Best of Show."

Joseph Senzatimore of the Nassau Camera Club along with managers from the hospital; Peter Chiacchiaro VP of Human Resources, Christine Rossidis Appeals Manager, and Patricia Stickle AVP Community Relations served as judges for this contest. Thank you to BWD and Brilliant Home, Inc. for their sponsorship of this event.

First Place winners were: Adult Portraits - Stephanie Rowatt for "John the Fiddler," Children - Stephanie Rowatt for "Little Angel," Land/Seascape - Bob Simari for "Dunescape," Sports - Mary Kaliski for "Flying," Abstract/Still Life - Patricia D'Aversa for "Shattered Glass," Animals/Pets - Mary Digilo for "Lean on Me," and Best of Show was awarded to Stephanie for "Little Angel."
