New Island Hospital Unveils Ultra-Modern MRI
New Island Hospital announced today that it received approval from the New York State Department of Health to begin evaluating patients with its state-of-the-art Siemen's Magentome® Essenza MRI. In recognition, staff, physicians, EMTs and community members gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony. NY Senator Kemp Hannon, NY Senator Dean Skelos, State Assembly Member Rob Walker, Nassau Legislator Edward Mangano and Oyster Bay Town Clerk Steven Labriola also took part in the celebration.
The ultra-modern MRI utilizes the latest technology to provide superior quality images in a short scanning time. After the scan, New Island Diagnostic Imaging, P.C. provides each patient with free compact discs containing all of the images that can be brought to his or her physician immediately after the study is complete. Physicians can also securely access films via the Internet and get a reading from a Board Certified attending radiologist almost instantaneously.
The addition is part of an overall expansion of outpatient radiology services at New Island Hospital. Over the past six months, the hospital has also added a new CT Scanner, high quality Nuclear Medicine (SPECT Camera), and a specialized Emergency Department Digital Radiology room.
"The outpatient radiology patients we see are sometimes surprised by the advanced level of technology available here at their community hospital," said Dr. Aaron Glatt, New Island Hospital President and CEO. "While we are proud of the quality of the images we deliver, including this state-of-the-art MRI, we are even prouder that we are working hard to ensure that no matter how advanced our science becomes, we don't forget the little things that make the experience pleasant for our patients. The entire process should be as easy and stress-free as possible - that is our goal."
