CENTRALIZED PATIENT TRANSPORT
In an effort to continuously improve hospital operations, efficiencies and the patient's experience, New Island Hospital will be centralizing the patient transport function and implementing an automated transport dispatching system. The Teletracking Patient Transport System is an automated patient dispatch and monitoring system which allows users to make requests via their desk top computer. The system will automatically dispatch the request by predetermined priority to the next available transporter in the area. Once received, the transporter picks up the job and responds to the unit. The system has the capability to monitor activity in real time and can track critical information such as delays, staffing, peak demand times, volume of calls, and necessary equipment (i.e. wheelchair, oxygen, etc.). We expect to have the new Teletracking Patient Transport System fully implemented in September and look forward to being able to move patients through the hospital in a shorter period of time and with greater efficiency.
