New Island Hospital Golf & Tennis Classic presented by Monster produced
a stellar event, on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Bethpage State Park. Golfers played the Red and Blue Courses and Island Orthopedics and Sports Medicine played the fabled Black course with New York Giants Linebacker Chase Blackburn while Rich "Goose" Gossage took a swing with each foursome at the event.

"Monster Worldwide, Inc. parent company of Monster.com, the premier global online employment solution for more than a decade, was the Grand Tournament Sponsor. New Island Hospital profoundly thanks Monster for their sponsorship, guidance and expertise in the design and coordination of this amazing event.

Both golf and tennis players enjoyed a delicious BBQ lunch, 18 holes of challenging golf, an exciting tennis tournament, mega cocktail hour, Private VIP Cocktail Hour with Goose Gossage signing autographs and posing for photos with the major sponsors followed by the dinner awards reception at the famous Carlyle on the Green.  An exciting raffle, silent auction and sports memorabilia auction, added fun and excitement to the evening, and the night sizzled when Chase did a live auction of a Giants football signed by him on the spot.

Proceeds from this event will go toward the purchase of life-saving critical equipment for the hospital. New Island raised a net total of $250,000 thanks to the support of local businesses, physicians and vendors and especially to Monster. The Hospital thanks our other major sponsors; Sullivan & Cromwell, New Island Diagnostic Imaging, Dechert LLP,  New York Anesthesia Associates,  and The Daily News.

New Island's next mega event is a 5K Cross Country Run on September 21, 2008 at the Polo Fields in Bethpage State Park, in Honor and Memory of Navy Seal, Lt. Michael P. Murphy, recipient of the Medal of Honor, when he lost his life in Afghanistan in June 2005.
