On January 8, 2007 my mother was taken to New Island Hospital by ambulance for the treatment of pneumonia. I would like to express my gratitude to your hospital and the wonderful Emergency Department doctors, nurses and aids. Their professional manner gave me the confidence that my 85-year-old mother was in good hands, and their tender caring attitude was very comforting to me.

My experience did not end there. January 18, 2007 when my mother was discharged to a rehabilitation center, thanks to the expertise of the New Island Hospital Case Worker, my 88-year-old father was admitted for acute abdominal pain and diagnosed with appendicitis. Once again the Emergency Room staff worked as hard as they could and the same caring doctors, nurses and aids were there to help. Dr. Mondschein was called to the ER to attend my father. This physician is the most wonderful person and an excellent surgeon. His concern for my dad was so genuinely sweet and warm. He is reachable at a moments notice and his knowledge base is tremendous.

There were many doctors, nurses, aids and hospital staff members that made my month at New Island Hospital bearable. The atmosphere is very warm. Everyone in the hospital is very friendly, they say hello and ask how you're doing. This is so nice especially when you're upset.

I spend a lot of time in the medical world due to my profession. I deal with pharmaceutical & medical device companies and hospitals. I want to tell you that New Island has made a tremendous change from years gone by, and the entire staff should be proud of themselves. Their hard work is making a difference and the results are paying off. I will definitely tell my neighbors and friends that New Island Hospital is a very good hospital and everyone who works there is doing a great job.

One last thing, the special people that took care of my parents deserve a special thank you from me. I don't want to mention any names because everyone was wonderful and I am sure whoever was given my parents to care for would have been great too. I myself will remember the people that did take care of them and will be forever grateful.
