My Aunt & Uncle Felt Safe in Your Hospital

On Saturday, May 12, 2007, my uncle Henry Kollmer was admitted to your Critical Care Unit from the Emergency Department. Mr. Kollmer is normally a patient of another hospital. He became ill at the Bethpage Dialysis Center and was brought tp the nearest hospital.

He received excellent care while he was a patient in the CCU. The Registered Nurses who cared for him. Elka, Anna, Gwen, Annie, Thankama and Helena should be commended for all their hard work. My aunt and uncle were married 56 years without children, and the past six years my uncle was on hemodialysis. The nurses allowed my aunt to stay by his side and to continue in her active role as his caretaker. This brought comfort to both my aunt and uncle. My aunt frequently told me that she was secure and safe with his care and never felt that either one of them was a burden.

The entire staff in CCU (RN's, Ward Clerks Pat & Sue, and Cathy & Debbie from the Respiratory Department) were kind and pleasant. The staff went out of their way to make sure there was nothing they needed. My aunt was provided with a guest tray for lunch and dinner, so I knew she was eating.

My aunt, Beverly Kollmer, was at his bedside when my uncle died a week later, comfortable and with dignity. She has only wonderful praises for your staff. Please extend our gratefulness to them.

Sincerely,

Susan Sklarsky
