History of St. Joseph Hospital

St. Joseph Hospital was established in May 1999 through a joint sponsorship of Winthrop South Nassau University Health System and Catholic Health Services of Long Island. In June 2005, St. Joseph Hospital became an independent community hospital offering acute care on an inpatient and outpatient basis. The hospital is located at 4295 Hempstead Turnpike, Bethpage, New York 11714.

St. Joseph Hospital is a 203-bed, community hospital that provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical, critical care and surgical services. Its Emergency Department cares for more than 37,000 patients a year. Other vital services include an Ambulatory Surgery Unit, The Center for Sleep Medicine, hyperbaric medicine and wound healing, a Balance Center, an endoscopy unit, a Diabetes Education Center, a full scope of outpatient radiology services, including a new CT scanner, MRI, nuclear camera and a full state-of-the-art PACS system.

St. Joseph Hospital is a member of the Nassau/Suffolk Hospital Council and the Long Island Health Network, a network of 10 hospitals that work together to lower health care costs and maintain local access to quality care to the communities they serve. The hospital is accredited by JCAHO, the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and Approved by the New York State Department of Health.
